Oil of oregano (soft gel)

Tier 3 — weak evidence · Antimicrobial · Gut · SIBO

Enteric-coated soft gels designed to deliver oregano oil to the small intestine for gut infections and SIBO. The active compound carvacrol has strong antimicrobial effects in lab studies. One small trial found it comparable to antibiotics for SIBO, but the study was not well designed. Can irritate the stomach if not enteric-coated. Use cautiously.

Dose: 600 mg/day emulsified or enteric-coated oregano oil for 6 weeks maximum; evidence weak for SIBO
