Laetrile (amygdalin / vitamin B17)
Tier 4 — risky / avoid · Cyanide · Cancer fraud
Amygdalin (sold as laetrile or “vitamin B17”) comes from apricot kernels. It releases hydrogen cyanide in the body. There is no such vitamin. An NCI-sponsored trial and other studies found no anticancer benefit. The FDA does not allow it as a cancer treatment. EFSA warns that three small kernels can exceed the safe cyanide limit for an adult. Poisoning causes seizures, coma, and death. Kernels and capsules are the same toxin.
Dose: Do not eat apricot kernels and do not take amygdalin or laetrile.
