Graviola (Annona muricata)

Tier 4 — risky / avoid · Cancer claims · Neurotoxicity risk

Graviola (soursop, Annona muricata) is marketed as a cancer cure on the basis of cell studies. There are no human trials showing it treats cancer, and delaying real treatment is harmful. The leaves and fruit contain annonacin, a mitochondrial toxin linked to an atypical parkinsonism in the Caribbean and Pacific islands where the plant is eaten often. Occasional food use of the ripe fruit is not the same as daily leaf capsules. Do not take it as a supplement.

Dose: Do not take graviola or soursop leaf as a supplement or as a cancer treatment.
