Cinnamon extract (Ceylon)

Tier 3 — weak evidence · Glucose · Insulin · Metabolic

Ceylon cinnamon is lower in coumarin, a liver-toxic compound, than the cheaper Cassia variety sold in most stores. Some trials show modest blood sugar reductions, but results are inconsistent and the actual benefit is small compared to standard treatments. Safe at recommended doses. Not effective enough to replace diabetes medication.

Dose: 500–1,000 mg/day Ceylon cinnamon extract; avoid Cassia type due to coumarin content
