Acerola cherry extract
Tier 2 — promising · Immunity · Antioxidant · Skin · Vitamin C
One of the richest natural sources of vitamin C (1,500-4,500 mg per 100 g fresh fruit), providing ascorbic acid alongside synergistic bioflavonoids including rutin, hesperidin, and quercetin. The whole-food matrix provides antioxidant compounds not present in isolated ascorbic acid. Absorption kinetics of food-matrix vitamin C are comparable to synthetic ascorbic acid; the bioflavonoid co-factors may reduce pro-oxidant effects seen at megadoses of pure ascorbic acid. Dedicated acerola-specific human RCT data indexed in PubMed are sparse; benefits cited for acerola extract largely…
Dose: 500-2,000 mg/day standardised extract (17.5% ascorbic acid); confirm label vitamin C content. Split doses if taking more than 500 mg to optimise absorption.
