What it is

An Ayurvedic herb that inhibits alpha-glucosidase and lipase enzymes, reducing absorption of both sugar and fat from meals. Small Japanese and Indian trials show it significantly reduces post-meal blood sugar and promotes modest weight loss. Contains salacinol and kotalanol as active compounds. Generally well tolerated with mild digestive effects. More clinical evidence is needed.
