Pantethine

Cholesterol · Triglycerides · CoA precursor
Tier 2 — Promising

What it is

The active form of vitamin B5 that your body uses to make coenzyme A. Multiple trials show 600 to 900 mg per day significantly lowers total cholesterol by about 11 percent and triglycerides by about 30 percent. Works through a different mechanism than statins, so it can be used alongside them. Generally well tolerated with mild digestive side effects in some people. Takes 4 to 8 months for full lipid-lowering effect.
