What it is

A traditional food and medicine used across Mexico and the American Southwest. Small trials show it modestly reduces post-meal blood sugar when consumed alongside carbohydrates. One well-known trial found prickly pear extract taken before drinking significantly reduced hangover severity. Also lowers cholesterol and triglycerides in small studies. Very safe as it is a commonly consumed food.
