MitoQ

Mitochondrial · Antioxidant · Ageing
Tier 2 — Promising

What it is

A mitochondria-targeted ubiquinone conjugated to a lipophilic triphenylphosphonium cation, causing it to accumulate 1000-fold inside mitochondria compared with standard CoQ10. Multiple human RCTs show improvements in vascular endothelial function in older adults, reduced fatigue in relapsing MS, and reduced ICU-acquired weakness markers. The targeted delivery matters more than the total antioxidant capacity — unlike conventional antioxidants, MitoQ acts precisely where ROS are generated.
