Methylcobalamin (high-dose neurological)
What it is
The neurologically active form of vitamin B12 that the brain and nervous system use directly without the conversion step required by cyanocobalamin. Multiple trials show methylcobalamin at 1,500 mcg per day specifically improves outcomes in peripheral neuropathy, sleep-wake cycle disorders, and age-related cognitive decline. Preferred over cyanocobalamin for neurological applications.
Dose
500–1,500 mcg/day sublingual for absorption; 1,500 mcg/day studied for neuropathy and circadian rhythm
Time of day & tips
Dissolve under the tongue for best absorption, especially if you are older. Take in the morning as B12 can be energising. Safe at all tested doses with no known upper toxicity.
