Magnafolate (calcium L-methylfolate)

Active folate · MTHFR · Methylation
Tier 3 — Trending

What it is

A patented stable crystalline form of L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate, distinct from Quatrefolic (a glucosamine salt of the same active folate). Both deliver pre-converted active folate that bypasses the MTHFR enzyme step. Especially relevant for the ~30% of the population with reduced-activity MTHFR variants. Equivalent in effect to Quatrefolic; choice between the two is largely about supply and price.

Dose

Time of day & tips

Take with food; preferred over folic acid in MTHFR variants; over-methylation symptoms (irritability, insomnia) at high doses can sometimes be relieved by adding niacinamide.
