Lemon verbena extract

Recovery · Cognition · Antioxidant
Tier 2 — Promising

What it is

A Mediterranean herb (Aloysia citrodora) rich in verbascoside with robust antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Human RCTs demonstrate significant reductions in exercise-induced muscle damage biomarkers (CK, myoglobin) comparable to tart cherry extract. A 2-month controlled trial in healthy adults showed improvements in cognitive flexibility and episodic memory. Mechanistic basis is NF-κB inhibition and free radical scavenging in muscle and neural tissue. Well-suited to active individuals.
