Japanese knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum)

Resveratrol source · Lyme adjunct
Tier 3 — Trending

What it is

An invasive perennial that is the commercial source of most nutraceutical resveratrol (typically 50-98% trans-resveratrol extracts are derived from it). Whole-root extracts additionally provide emodin, polydatin (resveratrol's glucoside), and anthraquinones with their own bioactivity. Popular in the Buhner Lyme protocol as an anti-inflammatory and blood-brain-barrier support. Emodin content may cause laxative effects at high doses. A natural alternative to isolated resveratrol with broader constituent profile.
