What it is

Related to but different from elderberry, and with much weaker evidence. Traditionally used for sinus and upper respiratory inflammation in European herbal medicine. Very limited trial data exists, as most evidence comes from lab studies only. Generally considered safe for short-term use. If you want elderberry benefits, choose elderberry itself instead.
