What it is

The traditional Ayurvedic source of berberine, known as Daruharidra. Contains additional alkaloids including palmatine and jatrorrhizine that may enhance the metabolic effects of berberine. A 2024 RCT found 500 mg twice daily significantly improved HbA1c in type 2 diabetes. Also used traditionally for eye infections and as a bitter digestive tonic. Same drug interaction profile as berberine.
